Kids: More Than Books

Our Youth Services department has more than just books in the collection! Check out some of our special non-traditional items you can't find everywhere else. For more information, stop by the Youth Services desk on the upper level or give us a call at (856) 903-1229.

American Girl Dolls
Take home an American Girl doll for a week! Along with a doll, you get the American Girl book, information about Cherry Hill during your doll’s time period, and a journal for you to record the adventures you have with the doll.

Busy Bags
Choose from a selection of Busy Bags that have literacy and math activities for ages 2 and up. Busy Bags can be checked out for three weeks and explore letters, sounds, matching, numbers, colors, and counting.

Dungeons & Dragons Take-Home Kit
This kit contains everything you need to start your own Dungeons and Dragons campaign with your friends! You can check out a kit for 3 weeks at a time.

The Youth Services Department has a wide selection of educational DVDs that can be borrowed for three weeks with no fee.

LilBits is a platform of easy-to-use electronic building blocks for creating inventions big and small. Great for tinkerers and young programmers!

Museum Passes
Check out a Museum Pass to gain access to area museums and attractions like the Garden State Discovery Museum, Museum of the American Revolution, and more. Our Museum Passes are managed by the Reference Department. For details, call the Reference Desk at (856) 667-0300 option 2.

Night Sky Explorer Kits
Kits include a pair of binoculars, a book about stars and planets and a Star and Planet Locator dial. Choose the Night Sky Explorer Kit for school age children, or the Night Sky Explorer Kit for Early Learners for those in Preschool and Kindergarten. Kits can be checked out for three weeks. 

Read Together Books
Read Together Books are multiple copies of the same title to read with friends, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, or a book club! Check out up to 10 copies of each title. You can even check out a reading guide with a brief biography of the author and discussion questions. Librarians have selected a variety of titles that are appropriate for students in grades 4 through 8. For a list of available titles, visit our Resources for Educators.

Take and Makes
Take and Makes are bags that come with a craft and activity suggestions that support early literacy and developmental skills. 
New Take and Makes are available to pick up at the Youth Services desk on the first of each month. Supplies are limited!

Video Game Rentals
Choose from a selection of age appropriate games for Wii, Wii U, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. Video games can be borrowed for one week for a $2 fee.

Vox Books
Each VOX book comes with an attached speaker and headphone jack to allow readers to listen to a complete narration of that title. They are very easy to use with simple Play, Stop, Rewind and Fast Forward buttons. Visit Vox Books' website for more information.
