Why We Like Being Librarians“It’s like being a detective - but without the danger.” - Sue T.
“The library is a place surrounded by books and knowledge, and there are opportunities to learn and to grow. You get to serve the public and to interact with different types of people. You have the best co-workers, who are helpful, considerate, and professional.” - Jenny K.
“I am never bored, each day is different, I enjoy people. It was great when I had young children, I could work part time and still keep up with my profession and being a reference librarian is great for someone like me who loves trivia.” - Ginny C.
"Being a Reference Librarian is like getting paid to play "JEOPARDY.” When I was Teen Librarian, I still got to answer questions, but as teenagers know everything, not as many..." - Lisa K.
“One day, I had a call from Hollywood, Ca. The patron wanted me to look in the phone book for certain names and streets in our area. He wanted to make sure they were NOT in the book. He told me he was making a movie and that the fictitious names and places couldn't match any real people in Cherry Hill. It was a legal issue. Here I was, a brand new librarian, and already involved in the making of a Hollywood movie! I have never worked one day that I haven't learned something fascinating, fun or educational. I really like this job.” - Jackie S. |
